Deposits and Payments
Once the order is placed, we require a deposit of 50% for all cake orders. This deposit is non-refundable.
However in certain circumstances the deposit may be transferable if you need to cancel.
The order, as detailed in the Quotation, is confirmed on receipt of the deposit.
Balances for Wedding Cakes are required 3 weeks before collection / delivery date.
Cancelled orders for wedding cakes with less than 14 days’ notice and celebration cakes with less than 7 days are payable in full.
Payment may be made by bank transfer, cash or via card over the telephone.
Collection
As you will appreciate, once the cake leaves Cake Art, responsibility then passes to the customer and the company is not liable for any damage in transit. Please be aware that a flat surface is required to retain stability of the cake and it should be secured where possible to remove the risk of movement in transit. If you are unsure, please ask us.
Delivery & Set Up
We do offer a delivery and set up service for Wedding Cakes only by prior agreement and subject to delivery slot availability. Upon delivery, photographs will be taken of the cake once it is staged at the venue to ensure that it is set up to the agreed design and without damage. A signature will be required to accept the cake.
Best Before Dates and Storage
When preparing sponge cakes, especially larger ones, the cakes need to be prepared two or three days before the event. While we do everything to ensure that the cake is as fresh as possible for the event, the best before dates are usually within three days of the event, especially if buttercream or chocolate ganache has been used.
Normally, it is best to store your cake in a cool room in the box provided until your event. Do not refrigerate as fondant icing will deteriorate.
Any remaining cake should be wrapped in cling film and stored in the box provided.
Fruit cakes will have a best before of several weeks after the event.
If any specific storage is required, this will be notified.
Non-Edible Decorations
During the design process the customer will be informed of any non-edible decoration that will be used to construct the cake. The customer must relay this information to the venue / hosts if they are cutting the cake into portions. The box will be labelled notifying the customer of any internal supports or non-edible decorations. Only fresh flowers, checked against the British Sugarcraft Guild list of non-toxic flowers will be used on cakes and where used, will be inserted into the cake using flower pics.
Allergy Advice
Legislation requires that all food businesses label their cakes with the ingredients used and identify any allergens. All of our cakes are provided with this information on the cake box with the allergens in bold. An allergy sticker will also be provided.

We at Cake Art aim to supply our customers with the best possible experience, however if you have any issues please contact us directly keeping a sample and photos of any issues.
